Alida Anderson is currently working towards her MFA in Producing at California Institute of the Arts (MFA candidate 2010). She holds a BAR in Theatre Arts from Rocky Mountain College and a Certificate in Arts Administration from New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
A multi-disciplinary theatre artist trained in acting, directing, and management, Alida has a passion for producing that lies in the ability to provide a space for other artists to work. The prospect of being a source of support, income, training, physical space, and networking for other artists is what drew her to producing, and this drive to collaborate with others is supplemented by her understanding of the artistic process as a whole, from concept to production.
Prior experience includes working in the Media Relations department of the Public Affairs office at CalArts; working in the office of Broadway and off-Broadway producer Roy Gabay (Dog Sees God, Barefoot in the Park, Jesus Hopped the A Train, Golda's Balcony, and more); developing curriculum for and teaching theatre classes to youth in grades three through nine; and overseeing a volunteer-based drama team at a local church. Alida also has experience as a producer, director, production manager, stage manager, and actor, and has worked in each of those positions in numerous shows.
In the summer of 2009, Alida will work for Calgary Arts Development, gaining experience in municipal public policy as it relates to the art community.
